The Whitehouse homepage has information relating to the current administration, its view on the important issues of the day, virtual tours of the Whitehouse, news releases, links to its archives, and links to the personal webpages of the President and Vice-President.
The U.S. Census Bureau is a link to the census information of the United States. It gives you information on the population and its characteristics, economic indicators, foreign trade data, and links to other related sites.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) site contains all types of geographical information about the earth and climates, plus free photos to download, links to related sites around the world, environmental data, The Global Program where students can interact and enter data they have gathered, and teachers workshops.
Ancestry.Com provides searches for the ancestry or history of different people, a message board, databases that contain collected documents and reference materials, and free web space to post personal webpages at My Family.Com.
The Jason Project is a site that contains projects for interactive exploring around the world and in space through its links to the NASA web site. Students can contact explorers by e-mail, go on virtual tours, and visit events through online video clips.
Adventure Online is a Great site for Social Studies teachers and students but also provides cross-curricular activities online in math, science, and reading and writing. There  is a  small  fee of $1/student and $69/teacher but only $449 for the whole building. Considering what you get (projects, lesson plans, teaching materials, interaction with explorers and experts on subject matter) the price for a year is well worth the investment.
